“Become AI literate in your field. Learn what AI can, and more important, cannot, do well. Learn how to make your own work more efficient with AI. Showcase how AI can help companies like yours, and where humans remain superior. Become the go-to AI practitioner,” adds Lynch.
AI literacy involves the ability to understand, use, and critically evaluate AI systems. It requires knowing how AI works, recognizing its limitations and biases, and using the tools effectively. The main goal being to fully comprehend AI’s role in terms of business.
In order for one to become AI literate, it starts by learning the basics. That means grasping how to prompt, understanding the terminology, or recognizing how trained data affects the output. It’s about strategically researching the technology so that organizations can accomplish what they need.
Another step of AI literacy is experimentation. Every good system comes with trial and error, so workers should begin incorporating AI into their everyday tasks, taking note of what went wrong versus what went right. True success comes when testing and refining becomes the core of the implementation process.
Lynch continues to say that, “Before long, the bottleneck for deploying AI will be humans who don’t know how to use it. So, be a human that does. Remember, many business leaders, who themselves do not understand how or where to improve their operations with AI, will look for professionals who do.”
